A National Pina Colada Day To Keep Winter Blues At Bay

To honour National Pina Colada Day and the cocktail that has become synonymous with an escape to tropical paradise, new Hawaiian restaurant Hana will host a themed Sunday session on 9 July.

The Hana Colada is a soothing concoction of Jamaican rum, aged rum, fresh coconut, fresh pineapple juice and lime.

Upon entering the restaurant – but not before getting lei’d on arrival – guests will be presented with their very own supersized ‘Hana Colada’ served in a festively decorated pineapple, and encouraged to come back at their leisure for a free refill.

Since launching in early May, Hana has become known for its superb seafood dishes and ample roaming canapes will be served all afternoon, including sought after plates such as Crab on Tempura Apple and Snapper Ceviche with Coconut & Lime.

Partygoers will also enjoy music from a Melbourne DJ, as well as a festive atmosphere, within a room that’s filled with the sweet scent of coconut oil.

This is a ticketed event and will be priced at $70, inclusive of a large  (triple the normal size) cocktail on arrival, cocktail refills and roaming canapes for the full duration of the event.

Door prize for the best dressed.

About Hana

Inspired by the coastal town at the eastern end of Maui Head Chef, Mario Manabe has created a menu that follows the seaside theme, focusing on raw seafood, with just a handful of the savoury options served hot. Once occupied by Hairy Canary, the site has been entirely transformed by Samantha Eades ( refurbishment at Chin Chin, fitouts at Hawker Hall and The Meatball & Wine Bar on Flinders Lane), who worked closely with Bruno and builders MIC Projects.

Cocktails take centre-stage at Hana all tiki focused and named after beaches and waterfalls on Maui, like the ‘Twin Falls Jungle Bird’ or the ‘Honolua Bay Sharknado’, an electrifying mix of dark rum, Cointreau, passionfruit, lime, orange and orgeat, served in a sharks head tiki glass. In addition to cocktails, there’s a sharp list of wine, all of which are natural, orange, bio-dynamic or practise minimal intervention.

Opening hours:

Monday - Friday for lunch and dinner
Saturday from 4:30 pm - late
Sunday - closed.
